Version 2.01: B.E.L.L.A. becomes your training partner

A lot has happened at B.E.L.L.A. since version 1.60. With version 2.01, the recording tool becomes a real training partner: the app gives you feedback while you ride, plans your horse’s training, keeps an eye on its fitness and motivates you with competitions. Here is an overview of everything new – compiled from our development tickets.

The labels in brackets name the subscription that includes a feature.

Real-time coaching

  • Live feedback (Amateur): cues on rhythm and balance while you ride – less often and at the right moment, compared with your previous rides, and with praise when something keeps going well.
  • Audible metronome (Amateur): a click at your target tempo helps you find your rhythm again when the beat gets uneven.
  • Automatic figure detection: circles, voltes, serpentines, spins and full halts are detected and saved.
  • Training agent: B.E.L.L.A. suggests the next suitable riding figure while you ride.

Training plans per horse (Pro)

  • Create weekly plans with exercise sequences, see which sessions are due and evaluate how well the plan was followed.
  • Guided plan mode: changes at arena markers, adaptive guidance, monitoring of rein-back and straightening on each change of rein.

Your horse’s fitness and health

  • Fitness tab in the horse profile (Amateur): a condition verdict, key figures with charts, gait distribution and distribution by activity type.
  • Load & recovery: a chart shows the balance of training and rest and, before you start, recommends whether to work or ease off today.
  • Energy use per gait: the share of your horse’s daily requirement – including the average of recent rides and the trend.
  • Trend tiles with baseline: every key figure shows the average of your previous rides for comparison.
  • Horse status: active, in rehab, paused or no longer active – only active horses can be picked for new activities.

Competitions & badges (Amateur)

  • Take part in competitions and challenges and follow your progress live.
  • Standings and badges are tracked per rider/horse pair; when you import a competition, rides already recorded within its period count retroactively.
  • Badges can be shared as an image with the app logo.

Recording, map & Relive

  • Before you start: pick horse and arena right away – ongoing competitions are included automatically.
  • Automatic recording: the ride starts when you leave the stable and ends when you return. You set the stable outline and radius per stable on the map; arena and indoor-hall zones set the activity type automatically.
  • Voice control: start, save or cancel rides with Siri.
  • Relive (Amateur): watch your rides again – with map, live statistics and elevation profile.
  • Elevation gain for every ride in the list and in the detail view.
  • Gait correction (Amateur): correct detected gaits afterwards – statistics and distances update immediately.
  • External sensors: connect Bluetooth sensors such as heart-rate or motion belts and use them live.
  • More accurate tracks: GPS outliers are discarded, duplicate positions cleaned up and GPS accuracy is stored as well.

Apple Watch

  • Recording without your iPhone.
  • Redesigned ride screen with weather, a compact layout and a dedicated controls tab.
  • Horse selection right on the watch, heart rate and a switch for live feedback on your wrist.

Usability & data

  • What’s new in the app: after an update you see at a glance what has changed.
  • Interactive guide: a guided tour walks you through the key features step by step.
  • New entries open straight in edit mode; going back asks before discarding.
  • Settings are organised into the Profiles, Configuration and Support tabs.
  • Definitions (e.g. riding figures) can be imported as a library from a file or URL.
  • Backup: full export as JSON including images, and restore on another device.
  • Export individual rides or entire date ranges and import them again.
  • The app now also speaks French and Italian.
  • Try the subscription features free for one week.

Now also on Android & Wear OS

  • In addition to iPhone and Apple Watch, B.E.L.L.A. is now available for Android smartphones and Wear OS watches.

Bug fixes

  • Saved rides no longer show 0 km or 0 km/h; rides from the last day of the month appear in the list again.
  • A ride started from the watch no longer creates a second, empty activity.
  • Fixed crashes when finishing an activity and when saving the profile in the setup assistant.
  • Profile pictures are kept; Apple Health access is requested as soon as you switch it on.
  • The activity list and overall statistics open noticeably faster.

You can find all versions at a glance under Versions. If you notice anything, please let us know via Apple’s Feedback Assistant or our Support page. Enjoy your rides!
